Common Monitor Issues and Troubleshooting Steps
Monitor problems are often caused by external factors like interference from nearby electronics, the ports or cables used, hardware compatibility, or user settings. To identify the issue, try the following steps:
-
Check the Cables:
- Use a different cable (e.g., a new HDMI cable or a different cable type) and ensure it's securely connected to the correct port.
- Reset the cable if necessary, by unplugging and re-plugging all cables
-
Eliminate Interference:
- Remove devices that may cause interference, such as other monitors, TVs, radios, fans, or electric clocks.
-
Adjust Sync Settings:
- Enable or disable G-Sync and/or FreeSync as appropriate for your setup.
-
Test with Another Device:
- Connect the display to a different device, computer, or power outlet to see if the issue persists.
- If switching to another input source resolves the issue, the original input source might be the problem.
If the problem disappears after trying steps 1–4, the issue likely lies with one of the peripherals or the input device's settings.
